View MoreThe Panhandle Cowboys (SASS affiliated club) invite you to our August Cowboy Action / Mild Bunch Shooting match. Traditional Mild Bunch 2. Modern Mild Bunch All SASS rules apply for both Cowboy & Wild Bunch. We will also have the following exceptions for Wild Bunch: Firearms may be any uncompensated center fire 1911, any SASS-legal rifle, 87, 97 or model 12 shotgun 1. Ammunition power factor of 150 will not be required 2. Pistol ammunition may not be jacketed, semi-jacketed, plated, gas checked, or copper washed. It must be all lead. 3. Magazines with base pads will be allowed 4. 1887 lever action shotguns will be allowed 5. Any caliber SASS-legal main match rifle may be used 6. Any uncompensated center fire 1911 may be used, standard length, commander-style or compact 7. Magazines will be loaded with 5 rounds only. (6) stages of cowboy action shooting, Gates open at 8:00AM check in opens at 8:30AM Safety briefing will begin at 9:20 AM & first rounds will go downrange as soon as possible after the briefing. The match will be 6 stages & will use 60 pistol, 60 rifle & at least 24 shotgun rounds (7 1/2 shot or smaller, no Steel shot) Mild Bunch round Count 120 Pistol, 60 rifle, 24 shotgun. Contestants use firearms typical of those from the taming of the Old West: single action revolvers, pistol caliber lever action rifles, and old-time shotguns. We shoot 6 stages set up in unique "Old West" style. Stage scenarios feature an array of situations, many based on famous incidents or movie scenes, in which shooters test their skills against steel targets. Beginners, experts, members, non-members, spectators and curious people are all welcome. Hearing protection and eye protection with side shields are required for participants and spectators. Everyone tries their best to dress the part and respect the traditions of the Old West. Matches are held according to Single Action Shooting Society rules. Walk-ins are welcome.
