(Click here for more photos.) Up for sale is a Taylor's & Company (Uberti) 1873 Pistol Grip Rifle in 357 Magnum/38 Special. This is a short-stroked and fully slicked-up "race gun" with several functional and cosmetic modifications which make it one-of-a-kind. Modifications include:
- Action work performed Roughneck Rod
- Short stroke lever
- Hammer mainspring recently replaced with Sure Hit “Super Light” Hammer Spring
- Firing pin spring and dust cover/latch/screw/ball/spring recently replaced with factory new parts
- Trigger safety spring lightened
- Lever lock removed
- Carrier lightened
- Rear sight filed flat
- Sure Hit brass cover installed on front sight
- Side panels, trigger, hammer, dust cover, and front cap jeweled
- Magazine tube polished and lightened
- Buttstock converted to flat "shotgun" style with 13" LOP
- Wood furniture oil-refinished to dark brown walnut
This is the trusty rifle that got me started in Cowboy Action Shooting. It functions perfectly and is faster than I am, so it would be perfect for anybody ranging from complete newcomers looking to get into the game all the way up through experienced professionals looking for a backup or project rifle.
The only reason I am selling it is because I recently purchased some other cowboy guns and am looking to offset those costs by thinning the herd... especially considering that my wife and I have a baby on the way! I may not get around to shooting this rifle as much anymore as a result, so I'm happy to let it go to someone who will get good use out of it.
