View More6th Annual Shootout at the OK Corral is Finally HERE! 1/28/2023 Well folks, the annual is finally here. This Saturday we welcome 68 shooters the OK Corral Gun Club for the 6th Annual Shootout at the OK Corral. Polecat Joe, Chickie Winsome, JP Law and myself have been getting prepared and we feel you will thoroughly enjoy yourselves. The weather is looking to be perfect, mid-50’s starting in the morning and ending up in the mid-70s with very low humidity. We can’t wait to shoot it up with all of our friends! Setup We are going to be setting up stages Friday morning around 8:00 am. If you are available to help, please meet us in the cowboy town whenever you can. It usually takes us 3-4 hours to get everything set up. We have some props and lots of steel to set for the match. Parking We have a special area of the parking lot (see attached map) reserved for cowboy shooters. OK Corral Gun Club is hosting very large shotgun tournament on the same day. What this means is parking will be tight. So please, arrive as early as possible and make sure and park as efficiently as you can so that we can all fit in the reserved area. Friday Night Dinner We currently have 16 shooters attending Friday night dinner at the High Noon Café. Dinner will start at 5:30 pm and go until we get kicked out. There is live music, full bar, great food, and even better company. See you all Friday night for the OK Corral Social. Registration Registration will be in the easternmost Chickee (see attached map) with Chickie Winsome. Please confirm your category and let us know if changes need to made before we start shooting. This will help us get scores tallied properly at the end of the match. Rolling Thunder Amaduelist is organizing a Rolling Thunder in Memory of Bad Hombre at 8:25 sharp. If you would like to pay your respects to Hombre, please bring your shotgun and two shells to the Silver Mine. What is a Rolling Thunder? It is where we line up next to each other with our shotguns and two shells. Typically, the person on the left will start by firing one shot and then the next person to the right will fire one shot and so on until we get to the end of the line. The person to the extreme right will fire two shots and then the next person to the left will fire one shot and so until we reach the end of the line where we started. Basically, a very long Nevada Sweep with a double tap on the end using our shotguns. Please remember this is a live fire commemoration and all SASS and gun safety rules still apply. You must carry your open and empty shotguns muzzle up to and from the firing line and remember the 170° while on the firing line. Do not load your shotgun until the Amaduelist tells you to do so. We hope to film the Rolling Thunder and make a commemorative video for Quicksdraw Connie and her family. Score Keeping We will be using the same scoring program (CAS Scoring) as we have for the past 3 years. It is a very simple and user-friendly program to use. If you plan on keeping score for your posse, please get with Chickie before the match and ask her any questions you may have in regards to using the program. Please remember, there are no paper backups and this will be the only record we have. If you have any reservations about using the iPad, please let someone else keep score. Visitors We have received a lot of interest from folks wanting to visit our Annual Match. I have encouraged all to come and join us. If you happen to see people watching your posse shoot, please welcome them over. Speak with them about Cowboy Action Shooting. If they have questions about the Club, direct them to myself or Polecat Joe and we will be glad to talk to them. Every bit of recruiting helps grow our sport. Lunch Lunch will be the same as last year. We will be eating in the Stable (see attached map) after all 8 stages are complete. The range will have their kitchen staff serving us and will also have a bar set up so you can enjoy a few libations with your meal. Awards will start as soon as we can get the scores tallied and everything organized. TG Vote I have cast our votes for the TG Rule Change. I received 11 responses with both items having the same amount of votes: 2 YES and 9 NO. So I voted how you told me to and cast a NO Vote on both items. We shall see the results after the deadline of the 30th this month. Thank you to those who responded and to those who I had discussions with about how the changes would affect our game. Understanding rule changes before casting your votes is very important. If you ever have any questions about SASS Rules, please do not hesitate to contact me.
