Around the eastern US if you are shooting CAS, you may have seen an Angel. One of the sweetest ladies to play the game. This weeks spotlight is pointing at Dancin Angel. Enjoy.

Where do you live? (what state or contry )

New Jersey

When did you start shooting CAS and how did you or who got you into the sport?

I started in 2003.  My husband Jesamy Kid had been shooting for a few years before me. When we first started dating I came to watch almost every match for about a year and helped with scoring, brass picking, spotting etc.  After I finally was comfortable with the shot gun I started being more than just a spectator.

Who was your mentor, either known to them or not?

Jesamy Kid was definitely my first mentor who helped me with all aspects of CAS.  I do have to credit Lester Moore and Loose Change for getting me a little more proficient with my rifle however.

How much do you practice, how many rounds a month do you send down range?

We try during the warmer months to practice once a week but since we live an hour and fifteen minutes from our home club that isn't always possible.  March through November we do manage to shoot at least 5 matches each month.  Would have no idea how many rounds that would be.

Have you won any state, regional, national or world championships?

I have won the NJ State Championship 5 times with a 1 time title for Black Powder as well.  I have a ladies top gun for Delaware and Long Island (when they used to have their big annual match)

Tell us about your most memorable match:

They are all memorable in their own way so it is pretty hard to choose just one.  There is something special that I remember about all of them.

What is your favorite aspect of CAS?

Absolutely the people.  Have formed many special friendships over the years with many more to come.

Is there a story behind your alias, and what is that story?

I am a former dancer (40 years - 30 of those years as an instructor of tap, ballet, jazz, acrobatics etc).  I also collect angels and is the nickname my husband gave me.

Do you have a travle/shootin buddy? (you know that friend that makes this game what it is)

Jesamy Kid of course.

Where is your favorite place to shoot? (range or match past or present)

I love them all.

What category do you shoot?

Usually aged based (Lady Senior at the moment)

Have you tried other categories? What categories have you shot and how did that go?

I have shot duelist, gunfighter, outlaw, josey wales (mostly at our annual All around cowboy match)  I can hold my own but prefer to shoot my regular category.

What is you posse job of choice?

Scoring or spotting

What is the time of your fastest clean stage?

18.87 (if you are including a stage that had a 5 second bonus)  If not then it would be 21.32

What was the best advice you got from a fellow shooter, and who was it?

Better to have and not need than need and not have.  Tequila.  I was fortunate enough to attend his shooting school my first year of shooting and learned a lot.  Also always walk away like you owned the stage.  You never know.  Thanks Sue Render :)

What advice can you give to some of the shooters reading this?

Don't be afraid to ask questions of anyone.  We are all here to help and encourage each other.  You never know who will explain something to you that will just make things click.

Is there that one rival that delivers a little extra sting when they beat you?

I can't say that there is.

What keeps you playing this game?

Being able to enjoy a hobby with my husband and to meet so many people from different places and walks of life.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not on the range or shooting?

Spending time with my grandchildren and friends.
